Before joining WGN, Mike worked at WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois, WYIN-TV in Merrillville, Indiana, and WGNO-TV in New Orleans as a meteorologist and reporter . He started his career on-air in New Orleans some days before Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana.
