Holt is an American journalist and news anchor and journalist working for the NBC Nightly News, weekday and Dateline edition. He was born on March 8, 1959 in Marin County, California, United States.
He followed the footsteps of Max Robinson who was an ABC News evening co anchor so Holt became the first African-American to solo anchor a weekday nightly newscast.

After working for CBS for 19 years as an anchor, reporter and international correspondent, Lester then joined WCBS Tv in New York as a reporter [1981]. In 1982, he stated working for KNXT in Los Angeles as a weekend anchor and reporter. From that time, Lester has worked in various stations reporting even in troubled spots like Iraq and Somalia.

Holt is remembered well for the way he moderated the presidential debates in 2016,he also interviewed the US president Donald Trump in 2017. His colleagues said that Holt asked very tough but appropriate questions.
