Guy Benson Biography

Guy Benson is an American, Political Editor of Townhall.com and a Fox News Contributor. In 2015 he co-authored End of Discussion an updated edition of which was published by Random House in 2017. His voice is also familiar on the nationally-syndicated Hugh Hewitt radio show — which he regularly guest hosts — and contributes to NPR’s All Things Considered.

Benson was born and raised by Saudi Arabian parents together with his brother James Benson. His brother James is an actor,writer and director by professional. Father to their mother who is their grandfather died in February 2000, where Benson shared a photo of his late grandfather on Instagram and expressed his devotion towards him.

Guy has never revealed the identity of his parents though he gave a glimpse of his love towards his mother and dad on social media. Benson attended middle school in Ridgewood, New Jersey and Ridgewood High School. When he was in high School he was known for broadcasting sports on local television. While he was trying to earn himself a bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University, he worked for the campus radio station, WNUR, broadcasting sporting events and hosting a political talk show. Benson also interned for two summers at Fox News, working primarily with Hannity & Colmes, before assisting the channel with its coverage of the 2004 Republican National Convention.

Benson discovered video from a 2007 reunion of the Weathermen in April 2008 , a radical left-wing group from the 1960s and 1970s. The footage included quotes from two members, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, defending their actions. From when Obama was critizesed 8 presidential campaign for associating with Ayers and Dohrn, the clips made national news, from the Boston Globe to Fox News. Benson garnered national attention during the 2008 presidential race on two other occasions. In August, after the Obama campaign attacked WGN radio in Chicago for allowing Stanley Kurtz to appear on their station, Benson who was in studio during the interview detailed his experience. Then, two weeks before Election Day, Benson joined with Mary Katharine Ham and Ed Morrissey to pen “The Comprehensive Argument Against Barack Obama,” released on Hot Air.
