Cynthia Gibb (Cynthia Lowrie Gibb) is an American actress and former model who has starred in film and on television. Gibb’s early dance training lent grace to her fresh-faced beauty, qualities which won her a modeling contract with New York’s Eileen Ford Agency at age 14. Within a year Gibb was on the cover of “Vogue” and “Young Miss.”
Spotted in a magazine by Woody Allen, she was cast in a minor role as an autograph seeker in the filmmaker’s Stardust Memories (1980) and promptly switched to an acting career

Cynthia Gibb Career
Gibb grew up in Westport, Connecticut. At the age of 14, she got her big break when she was discovered by the Eileen Ford Agency in New York City. Gibb was on the cover of Vogue and Young Miss. Woody Allen saw her in one of those magazines and cast her in her first film role in his movie Stardust Memories in 1980.
In Salvador 1986, directed by Oliver Stone and starring James Woods, Gibb portrayed an American lay missionary in El Salvador who was brutally raped and murdered. From 1981 to 1983, she is well known for her role on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow as Susan Martin Wyatt Carter.
Gibb was also a regular for three seasons on the original Fame TV show and appeared in the first three Diagnosis: Murder movies (1992) as Dr. Amanda Bentley. In the TV adaptation of Gypsy, for which she was nominated for Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television Film, Gibb starred as the adult Rose Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee, opposite Bette Midler as Mama Rose.
Gibb later starred in the 1995 short lived TV series Deadly Games. She has also played in many TV movies, including the role of Karen Carpenter in The Karen Carpenter Story in 1989, Mary Maloney opposite John Schneider in Mary Christmas.
