Cheryl Lynn is an American renowned singer who is best known for her song’s during the late 1970’s all through to 1980’s.
Her song “Got to Be Real” in the 1978 took her high on the board. The singing career began when she was a young girl with her church choir.
However, her professional singing career began in 1976 when she obtained a job as a back vocalist for the national touring company of the musical drama, The Whiz. Her type of music that she has specialized in is Disco, R&B, soul and pop. The singer is considered to have influenced prominent artists such as Mary J. Blige and Will Smith.

Lynn’s singing career was recognized by her family and her boyfriend, who dared her to join the talent search/comedy program that was known as “The Goon Show “or else he would break up with her. That left her no other choice but the shy girl reluctantly joined the singing contest.
She won the contest, and received phone messages from the Atlantic Records’ producer Ahmet Ertegun and Elektra Records’ Bob Krasnow. A recording contract from Columbia Records soon followed and a pairing with producer-composer David Paich.
In the late 1970s through the 1980s, where she enjoyed hit songs such as “Got To Be Real”, “Star Love”, “Shake it Up Tonight”, “If This World Were Mine” (duet with Luther Vandross) and “Encore”. Cheryl was also the female vocalist on the original version of the now-standard Soul-Pop classic, “Georgy Porgy”, by the rock group Toto.
Unlike other singers who came to prominence in the short-lived Disco era, Cheryl saw a decline in her record sales by the late 1980s. She remains, however, one of the most talented and best remembered vocalists from that era. In the mid-1990s, she released her last album to date, “Good Time”, and”Got To Be Real-The Best Of Cheryl Lynn”. Cheryl’s first professional job was as the backing vocalist for the musical drama The Wiz.
